It is now the second official week of school, and things are going wonderful! I have 19 boys, and 10 girls in my class- all of them are really great kids. Currently we have four students who are exceptions in the classroom, meaning they get pulled out during the day for extra help, or need accommodations while in the classroom. For example there is one student who struggles with drawing shapes, so to help he/she out we give them a Geoboard that they can make the shapes on with rubber bands.
Since my start at Baxter Elementary I have been wholeheartedly welcomed by the staff, students, and parents! I feel a sense of belonging every day, and love that I chose this profession!
At this point in my student teaching experience my concerns are how to develop a strong relationship with each student's parent, and making sure that I connect with each of my 29 students at some point everyday.
At this point I am most looking forward to teaching an actual lesson in front of the class, and watching each student progress throughout my 12 weeks.
